There are probably easier/cleaner ways to do this, but this is how I did it, and I'm now done. I used notepad++ for that, and then imported the playlists into winamp to manage/clean up the playlists, then exported those and synced the songs playlists to the android using windows media. So, in an earlier iteration of itunes, years ago, I'd saved off all of my playlists, some of the music locations had moved as I've moved across at least 5 laptops since then, so I had to modify some of the playlists to point to my current NAS library location to read the songs. I had difficulty getting the latest version of itunes to export playlists in. Side note: It took a fair amount of time to move all of this out of itunes libraries/my NAS music library to the Android. So, this method makes my music much more portable across all my driving platforms. Android Auto there in the Audi, knows how to mute all external music sources. I had previously loaded the music onto 2 SD cards in the Audi 5 years ago when I bought it. And, I can also listen to the songs in the Audi while using Android Auto. I have moved all my songs/playlists from the old ipod and now have it all contained on the Android.Īdditional win from this, is I use the Android when I'm riding on my motorcycle to listen to music(I had a small playlist there already), so it's already all set for that there, now I just have more playlists/songs, to listen to with my headset(Cardo) speakers in my helmet. While Android Auto is in use, Android Auto mutes the music as needed. Bring them up in the Samsung audio app(on the android and the app is added to Android Auto. So, I took my songs, and playlists, and moved them to my android. So, my Android has almost half again the storage my old ipod classic (80G) had. Also, I use Android Auto and the wife Apple Carplay - and Android Auto (I'm assuming Apple is similar) doesn't seem to know how to mute the thumb/usb drive to do it's announcements. But, the Toyota head unit doesn't seem to know how to do playlists, that I could find - it does folders, artists, albums. It sees the usb thumb drive, and the songs. Loaded a bunch of songs from my song library moved over some playlists. Update: So, I used the app to format my 64G thumb drive as a fat32 drive format. It’s all helping balance your heart chakra.
